Stephen is a board member and the co-founder of CBG. He studies macrophages, perhaps the most complicated cellular compartment in our bodies. His research focuses on the pursuit of strategies to improve the function of the immune system in disease. Realizing a need for entrepreneurial education later in his training, he assembled the nucleus of what is today CBG. As an elite USC Presidential Fellow and in interacting with other entrepreneurial leaders, he realized he was much better suited for a translational research career path. Stephen carries the passion of promoting the local biotechnology space in SC and educating tomorrow’s leaders. He hopes to build pipelines for our best and brightest to find their best jobs SC while endeavoring to create first in class diagnostics and therapeutics with other entrepreneurial scientists.
When not pursuing his hobby of being in the lab, Stephen emphasizes his family above all else. He is happily married to his wife Trisha and they have a young son Matthias.
