Christian Graves is co-founder and chairman of the Carolina Biotech Group. Currently pursing a path as a physician-scientist at USC School of Medicine, Graves is passionate about translating discoveries at the bench into meaningful therapies that benefit others. He is a South Carolinian through-and-through (just lacks the accent) and is proud to have returned to his roots after fellowship at the National Institutes of Health where he successfully pursued translational medicine with a focus in all things neuro. He thrives when working with diverse teams of innovators to improve health, rebels against traditional barriers to progress, and would like to see himself as a pioneer. He enjoys spending time in the mountains with his family rock climbing, biking, and whitewater kayaking, renovating his mid-century house, and rooting for his local hockey team.
Kayla is a member of the board, a biotech startup officer, and a graduate student at Clemson University. She never saw herself pursuing the business of science. However, she has quickly broken through and helped to co-found a low cost diagnostics business, Accessible Diagnostics. Currently the CTO, Wilson has a chip on her shoulder when it comes to disrupting access to glucose testing, a global market that exceeds 236 Mil underserved. Synergizing accessible printing technologies with a smartphone-based app, she is helping fulfill the dream that millions will one day have better endocrinologic control of their diabetes. When not in the lab, mentoring emerging leaders through the Creative Inquiry program, or competing in the nation’s top design competitions, Wilson spends her time traveling the world to places like Tanzania meeting with physicians, scientists, and healthcare advocates. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Torynce with their fur-baby (insert name). Kayla is an avid wood-worker, enjoys exploring her culinary passions through dinner parties, and getting after it with her roller derby team.
